Hi! I'm starblood
(That's my online alias) I'm an Animation graduate who is aspiring to be a Character Design Artist and a Concept Artist! I love blending trendy modern fashion
with fantasy themed quirks
"saturated colors is a must", and silhouettes
is key into making my designs effective! Here are some samples works of mine I am delighted to share! :D
Character Designs & Concept Arts
I have mostly made designs for school purposes, and commission works (most OC's of mine have their own ref sheets filed in my brain vault ;v; ), I like to play with silhouettes and try to avoid making 2 characters look-a-like. Colors play a big factor in completing the designs as well
Illustrations
In making my illustrations I like to add movement and flow to add liveliness and action in a still piece; vibrant and saturated colors really is a staple in my style as I find it more alluring and eye catching. Backgrounds is not the strongest card in my deck so I still want to enhance that through more experince
LUTONG BAHAY
Is a capstone project film I collaborated and helped made into a reality with my peers Hannah Capua and Veahmari Lazaro. "Lutong Bahay" is a heartwarming story about a mother-son duo making ends meet through heart wrenching reality of a below middle class lifestyle. Working through this project was a big hurdle to go up against, it was the very first BIG project I had the privilege to work on.
Picking their palette was intentional to mirror each other with the use of red and green, just had to tweak it to teal and maroon. We originally planned to work with full 2D cut -out animation, I have made 3 full body rigs for Aling Lucia (young), Aling Lucia (old), and Lucio.Although things didn't go as plan, we had to cut time short and animate hand-drawn but luckily the rigs are not a lost and we used them to keep the consistency and make production fast.
I had the role to be the Lead artist for this project, I was responsible for designing the characters for our film. We wanted an easy malleable artstyle to work with, so the key was to play with simple shapes with a simple palette.I wanted our 2 main character to have a relation without telling their story and just by looking at their design alone, I made their head a gumdrop shape that is a flipped version of the other to reflect that.
